Speaker #1. Dirk Kittredge DTM. Gestures, Who Needs Em?
Dick Ing never once lifted his hand to gesture. Speech after speech
after speech, something to be said about using these (raising hands). Eyes
convey honesty and trust. Fidgeting hands and hands in pockets. Why does
it draw your attention? Because it shows a lack of confidence. Gestures
done right, you don't see it. Gestured over done, your Tammy Faye Baker.
Body language provides emotion. Ray shows us how to use hand signals to
land an airplane. Video of mime showing use of hands and face gestures.
(Speech so great, it should be a workshop for all of us. Excellent job

Toastmaster (me) talked about how great some writing is with movies.
Example with Shrek #3 movie. Interrogation scene with Prince Charming and
Pinnochio.

Practicing his contest speech in which he hopes to win on 29 April
2017 at the Foothills Division Contest at 2pm at St. Anthony's Hospital
West in Lakewood. Title: Looking outside, the in crowd" Picture me in
High School. Hair gel. Abercrombie and Fitch shirt worn three days out of
the week to be part of the in crowd. Mean scowl, dark sunglasses. Loud
scream by teacher to get up against the wall. Football player, pale
white. Commotion. Exited building physically unscathed. Mentally no so
much. Lost love ones and innocence. Gained wisdom of forgiveness. Gained
compassion. (Speech keeps improving with time. Good job Russ. Good luck

Toastmaster (me) With the help of Kathy Barrett, I showed everyone how to
help someone out of a chair.
Speaker #3. Jonathan Kolber.
Folk tale from Japan, The Stone cutter. Mount Fuji. Hammers, chisels
into beautiful blocks. Utility of the stone. Sculptor. Prayer. Useful
and beautiful. Beauty can serve utility and utility can serve beauty,
Toastmaster (me) Fun Facts. Mona Lisa has no eye brows and no eye
lashes. Nemo makes an appearance in the movie Monsters Inc. as a toy that
Boo gives to Sully 2 years before Finding Nemo was released.
Speaker #4. Kathy Barrett.
Selling with Sincerity. Cold call with Robin McIntosh. Customer
service is the key. Smile when you talk. Have a great attitude. Be
honest, truthful, and sincere. Role play with Luke Vesely, another cold
call.
Break. Dessert in the break room. Pound cake, strawberries, black berries
and cool whip all mushed together. It tastes so good. Whodathunkit.

Soft ball the size of softball on steroids or a very small volleyball.
Take your pick. Questions on the ball. Thrown and caught. Answer the
question that right thumb lands on. (What a fun and cleaver way to do
table topics).

serendipitous. Turning points are frequent. Times in career after 30
years, your not doing it right. Better idea of what I want to be when I
grow up.
4. Robin McIntosh. What is your least favorite form of transportation.
RTD stands for reason to drive. Tight shorts, helmet means golfing buddy
is going bicycle riding. Least favorite form of transportation is bicycle.

Started off standing like a stiff board then the gestures came out. I get
it. I'm excited now. Fabulous job. Tons of information. Key point with
stories. Gestures like make up or gestures like Tammy Faye Baker. Could
have saved time by not using Ray. Videos covered all base elements. Very
memorable speech.
Evaluator #2. June Hale on Russ.
Performance is key. Suggest to see who has won previous contests. Advice,
see the stage before hand. Know parameters Impactful story to tell.
Commonness of the day. Let the audience feel.
Evaluator #3. Robin McIntosh on Jonathan.
Evaluators before me were JENNIFER, then JUNE, and now you get robin
mcintosh. (Hilarious. The gesture to slouch and make himself appear 4
feet tall. You had to be there). Gestures were limited because you only
had right hand. (left hand was holding paper to read story from). Set up
added to story. You did not fulfill high bar. Bring on your crazy style.
I want to see JOHNATHAN. I don't want to see johnathan.
Evaluator #4. Katelynn Stoll on Kathy.
Congratulations on finishing manual. Understood concept of cold call.
Role play - good set up. Tone of voice was very relaxed and comfortable.

Shirley Eaves. Excellent job on table topics. Time crunch but it still
worked out great.
Greeter Ray. Last week Shirley had plastic Easter eggs filled with
chocolate. Luis was expecting a treat this week too. (good job Luis for
looking back a week and seeing things outside the box. Very funny).
There were 15 guests and one speaker. I was toastmaster and it was
challenging to take notes which makes it hard for me to remember
everything. From what I do remember Dirk did an excellent job with his
topic on Gestures. This will motivate me to remember to use my eyes,
hands, body, a smile or even a wink. It really adds to a speech. Thank
you Dirk. Russ's speech seems to improve over time. Jonathans story
telling speech was very good. Kathy's speech on cold calling was well
organized. Robin and Luke did a good job with their roles during role
play. All the evaluators did an excellent job but June's evaluation for
Russ was just a little special. Emotional, tears, and a hug. How do you
top that? I suspect during her days in toastmasters, she had a lot of fun
feasting on the flesh of the living. Shirley Eaves did an very good job
with Table Topics. I'm sorry there was not more time. She deserves to do
table topics again because with the short time she had, she was awesome.
This was Luis first time as General Evaluator and you would not have known
it. He was organized and comfortable and funny. You've come a long ways
in a short time since your first days in toastmasters. Way to go Luis.

Congratulations to everyone. This was a very special evening and not
