GraphOn's GoGlobal is much simpler to install on the PC and has a smaller footprint. However, it does not work well with remote draw applications like the ICC. Hummingbird's eXceed is harder to install and has a much larger footprint. However, it can handle our remote draw applications. As a rule, we recommend eXceed for LANs and GoGlobal for dial-up. Your assumption about the installation of GoGlobal and the desktop is correct. However, you can get the desktop using eXceed as well. BTW, this is all covered in the FoxRemote PSS. If you buy the products from us, you get a manual that explains exactly how to configure everything and a diskette that makes the work simpler. Yes, if my assumptions are correct, I can easily see that would be the case the X protocol is well known to not work on low bandwidth connections. As a matter of fact I deployed many many years ago, a solution to provide dialup access to a X based control system using some software (from the makers of PC/FTP if memory serves). Given a fast network, is there any advantage of using Go Global? Also, could you comment on my assumptions? -- "They that would give up essential liberty for temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." -- Benjamin Franklin _______________________________________________________________________ This mailing list is neither sponsored nor endorsed by Invensys Process Systems (formerly The Foxboro Company).
