Sounds like you had similar initial symptoms, but I have tried Reset
with no results also.

I have tried the same route you went of just editing the .XML file but
we are still stuck with a Red-Dead FBM232 (actually I just copied one
with the same IP addresses from another Unit and renamed it). I also
noticed there is also a .lmx file associated with each .XML file, which
is not just text. I also copied this .lmx from the other Unit and edited
it with VI to change the ECB name I could see, (where's bpatch when you
need it?)

Since this trick didn't work to workaround the FDSI config problem, I
suspect I have a second problem. I have installed the Ethernet FDSI
software (this is the first Ethernet FDSI on this AW).

Install Problem

We are using control-logix and IA v8.4.1 -- so problems might be a bit
different. BUT - we found that doing an FBM RESET from the system
monitor helped out when adding a child ECB. Before hitting RESET we
tried to soft D/L the FBM as well as db download. The child ECB stayed
dead. If you can - I would try a RESET - but of course you will loose
communications to the PLCs until you are back again.

Also - regarding thg FDSI Config GUI - we have the new version - it is
nice (it WORKS). But when we had the old version - simply editing the
xml with notepad worked fine.

Install Problem

We are having issues with a new install of an FBM232 Allen-Bradley
Ethernet FDSI at Foxboro Version 8.4.2 and FDSI Configurator Version
1.2. I've already found the known conflict issue with 8.4.2 and FDSI
Configurator 1.2 and am trying to get FDSI Configurator 1.3 from Fox
Service. However I suspect further issues as I cannot do a soft-download
to the already created ECBs, which I don't think involves the files
created by the FDSI Configurator. Any one else out there with 8.4.2
issues with this Ethernet FDSI install, hopefully with resolution?
