Thanks, Russ. That'll be most useful.

But now I have to go back to my customer and explain it
all again. Oh well...

Master timekeeper on V8.x does not work as systems past.
In SysDef you specifically define a MTK workstation and Backup MTK
workstation. If they are available, they always take over MTK without
question. Only if they are not available, does MTK get thrown up for
grabs by any other V8.x workstation. When MTK master returns, it
forcefully takes MTK back.

As for ATS applications, Mesh MTK looks every ten minutes to send time
across the ATS to legacy nodes just as the old legacy MTK operated.
If a legacy node misses two consecutive ten minute updates from the
Mesh, then an MTK master on the legacy side takes over for legacy, while
a Mesh MTK still exists on the Mesh. This should only be short lived
unless your system as a outstanding problem.

SMDH has an added ability at V8.1 and above that has a DST pick in it's
upper left corner. DST has two modes, Manual and AUTO.
DST in SMDH only means something if your Microsoft timezone applet has
Auto Adjust selected. If that is the case, DST in SMDH becomes vital as
Manual or Auto sending of time across ATS becomes enabled.

In your case, if Manual is selected, then time never gets sent thru ATS
until a Manual intervention by the user switches SMDH to Auto.

So, if Microsoft TZ applet is set to Auto Adjust, SMDH DST must be in
Auto for time to get sent thru the ATS.

Not offering help here, but a related question.

Do we assume the Master Timekeeper in a V8.x system=20
basically works the same way as it would on a previous
systems? Then, of course, does the presence of an ATS
change anything ?

One of our customers seems to have lost the ATS over the holidays,
and ICC on the nodebus side complained of "Time Not Set". Further,
when the ATS was restored, the MESH and Nodebus sides did
not have the same time displayed. I'm guessing gremlins are at
play here, but in explaining the timekeeper to that customer I=20
had to wonder if I was lying to her.

Anybody know?
