She messaged me yesterday. I need to tell her something today... Even if it's
no comment. I told her last week we would have a statement after Fridays
meeting, and I haven't given her anything yet. I'm not confident in my ability
to say the right things... I'm too chatty! I would LOVE if Steph or Flo or
others could either guide me in what to say or decide to have someone else talk

To me the problem is, there will be a story, we are not in control of whether a
story will be written or not. Sheila heard there was an issue here from
friends of the school. She was at the student walkout and has interviewed the
VOA and Toni and asked about compliance issues. How do we now try to shape and
impact a story that is going to happen with our own response.

Thank you for you care and consideration around media. I believe it to be a
large risk for a little school that has so much going on. I believe any
negative comments towards Toni could have possible legal ramifications. I
think the next step is to pull discussion together where the topic is
specifically media.

I have done quite a bit of the behind the scenes media work with the Anti-war
23. I know how difficult it is to deal with what feels very much like the
intrusion of strangers into issues that may make people feel like their
personal integrity is being questioned. My experience doing media work tells me
that ignoring it will not make it go away and in fact can make it snowball. I
think we want to be able to give a positive and forward looking message and
quite soon. I think it is important to frame that message in our own terms and
with our own values and try to communicate those values to Sheila.
That's my advice but as always I defer to those most impacted by the story for
the final decision.
