Correct. Your Priv.EDB will now contain a fair amount of white space. The actual file size reported by your OS will be the same. You will need to run an offline defrag to remove white space from your database if you need to recover the disk space. In the meantime, exchange will populate the white space in the database. Not sure about the rest of you, but when I was an exch admin we scheduled outages periodically to do maintenance such as this. I have never known an exch 5.5 box to stay up 24/7 indefinitely. Best to do some maintenance when you want, rather than when the panic button is pressed. Online defrag was successful. It said some 3000Mb (3Gb) were recovered, but the EDB file is still 16gb. It has been running for a couple of days now and the EDB file is still 16Gb, so maybe exchange is using the 3Gb it recovered for new mails. Correct? We will be moving to Exch 2k Enterprise soon to avoid these limits... -----Original Message----- From: Debie Allen [mailto:debie2000@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: 06 June 2002 6:42 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: URGENT - Exch 5.5 info store limit reached! http://www.MSExchange.org/ - Re-Vamped! Check the event viewer for Online Defrag info. It will tell you how much space was left after the last online defrag. That's the amount of space you would recover with an offline defrag. --- "Alex.Mckeown" <Alex.Mckeown@xxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > http://www.MSExchange.org/ - Re-Vamped! > > > I could be wrong but I think that the only way to > recover disk space from > the database is to do an OFF-LINE defrag.
