Greetings, all!

Here are some relatively straight-forward facts:

David & Co. have given us a voice and a forum.

ETNI is not a governmental organization, but does aid
the English Inspectorate in giving and getting
information.

English Inspectors, including Judy (all the Judys,
Barry) read ETNI and respond when they feel the need
(even though we might feel they should respond more
frequently).

As such, an EFL teacher wanting to collect signitures
for a letter for the good of the profession (or the
perceived good of the profession) can do so on this
non-governmental professional forum. Those who do not
agree with the move can either not sign, or can start
counter-action. (It's called "democracy in action".)

Now for some personal opinions based on those facts:

To muzzle a non-governmental forum because someone in
the English Inspectorate, or higher, might be offended
is a spineless knee-jerk reaction of a totally
anti-democratic nature.

So what if a justified difference of opinion gets into
the press? I don't particularly like the quality of
the Israeli press, but sometimes it actually performs
its democratic function in society. Highlighting the
problems of the NBA is an example.

Jimmy
