thumbs plugin and auto refreshing...

We could do so, easily enough. However I'd prefer to fix the actual problem. 
That might be related to the refresh mechanism, if not the thumbnails plugin 
itself.

I've spent a day refining the refresh mechanism, including a couple of tweaks 
in the thumbs plugin.

I have to expect that this round of changes will introduce a bug or two, so if 
you can, please get code from svn and test it.

It might be worth making a pre-release.
