I think ya got a pretty good handle on it, Dan. The only thing ya missed was the rubber band rear axle drive device, which just might be connected to the reciprocal arm on the maniform and controlled by the reluctive interference portion of the adjunct exchange unit.

It appears to be steam powered but I can't find anything with a stack like that. Although it is reminiscent of a steam donkey.
