Yes, there's an I5 in it. So far I like it, but I'm having trouble getting used to the keyboard. The keys are very slick and not at all in the positions I'm used to, particularly the directional keys.

But it's fast and the video is very good...although I haven't tried playing and DVDs on it. Well, I just did. I got a coupla instructional DVDs on lap steel guitar and I just watched part of one. First: The DVD drive is in the absolute worst place it could be for me. I'm left-moused (but right-handed...goes back to a bad case of tendonitis years ago) and the drive is at the very front left corner, opening to the left...right where my mouse pad is. And it takes forever to start up, but then the mainframe wasn't a hell of a lot faster, so I'll let it go on that. It makes real funny system sounds (even though I have system sounds turned off) when the DVD loads, but...well..whatever. The video quality is fine. Very nice. The sound quality is much better than one would expect in a laptop, but then that's one of the selling points.

It has Windoze 7 Home on it, and I'm considering upgrading it to Pro if I can't get around some of the nanny things.

For my use (mainly editing photos while on the road, although now I can use it to play DVDs if I ever get so bored that reading isn't an option) it should work extremely well. I haven't installed Paint Shop Pro/Photoshop or ACDSee nor Dreamweaver or Ace HTML (my preference) on it, but I'll get there. I may just have some time on my hands with this here storm a-stormin. Anyway, when I'm on the salt, I put the laptop on the armrest to my right and use the mouse on the seat in front of it. This will work very well, although the width may make use of the ten-key pad a little interesting, but I knew that going in.

I would have held out for one of the newer devices, but timing was of the essence. I'm glad I found this one instead of some of the others I looked at.

I spy an i5 processor in that laptop... how are you liking it so far? It should be a beast given the specs. Will you remote in to your main PC?

I've been looking for a thin & light laptop so I can be more mobile. I'm holding out for the new CPU/GPUs coming in the new year, the new "Sandy Bridge" architecture is supposed to be a big step forward for integrated GPU laptops.
