The tranny slid off the  jack again this morning.  I didn't think it hurt 
it, so I went to Lowe's  and got some non-skid stair treads and glued 'em on 
the tranny jack.  A  friend helped me put the tranny on the jack and then we 
saw the crack.   No, neither of us were on crack.

I just about decided to put it  off until next year.  But I'll talk to a 
guy who's done a lotta welding  for me and see if he can heliarc weld it for 
me.  If not, then it WILL be  next year unless something real drastic 
happens...like maybe an el-cheapo  junkyard tranny that I don't care if I blow 
up.

More news to follow  tomorrow.
