I have scanned a book on the day of publication, and read one or two in a
day, but never both.

Wow, that is quick.  I did read a whole book in one day last month, but
that's cheating a bit as it was quite a short book and only took me about 4
or 5 hours to read.  I don't do that very often though, that might be the
first time.
