Hi Nina,
I would suggest you contact Index directly in Sweden. There may well be
reputable repairers close to Slovenia which Index may know.
Here in the UK, have many years of servicing Index embossers, and our first
thought would be to have a general overhaul. It could well be that some of the
embossing hammers simply need cleaning having built up dust over a number of
years.

My Institution will probably have to buy a new braille printer. We now print
most of school text books on index 4wave an we just notice that some dots are
not readable. We will try to repaire it.
Anyway, is printing easier/cheaper on fan (z) paper nowdays or on regular? We
noticed the heads on our other table top braille printers soon start to loose
the grip to pull the paper one by one and we have to do it by ourselves. So
thus could be then the reason to buy a z folded braille printer. What do you
think?
Thanks for your opinion.

Hello,
I’m using the Index Basic D5 and when I got it it came with drivers that were
on a thumb drive and that the driver had to be installed. Once the driver was
installed you will need to go into the properties to set some configuration. I
had to get help to do that with tech support from Humanware.
I had an older Index Basic D4 before my 5 and that one had to be setup using
the Generic Text Printer Driver.
It will help very much if the original poster of this thread would have given
the model number of the Index embosser so that the question could be
specifically answered.

Barry,
I have a friend who recently needed to install drivers for an older Index
printer. I don’t know the exact model they use. She was able to find the driver
name in the manual for the printer. I don’t have more information other to say
that the Index needs to be connected directly to a USB port and not through a
USB hub.

Subject: [duxuser] Setting up DBT with an Index embosser
Hi to All,
I need to set up DBT 12 with an Index Version 3 embosser. I have a computer
running Windows 10.
I understand I need to set up my embosser as a Windows printer Do I need to
download a driver, and if so, which one do I use? I looked on the Index site
and there seem to be a couple that might work.
I’m grateful for any assistance.
Barry.
