What was the solution?

George.

        Douglas,

I doubt your problem is with Duxbury, since handshaking is
controlled by either the printer driver or a setting in your embosser.
Try resetting the Juliet to factory defaults and see ifs the problem
is cured.

        Steve

                Subject: [duxuser] Fw: embossing problem

I suddenly experienced a new problem (see below):
Duxbury doesn't seem to give a "hand shake" to my Juliet embosser
anymore, although the embosser itself works with test patterns in the
service menus. I asked a guy who works at the facility where I live
(on Sunday and Monday evenings), to investigate the situation, and try
another embosser I have, to see whether the problem lies with the
embosser or with Duxbury. I'm using DBT 10.7; I can't afford
upgrades. I was able to emboss files without fail until tonight, when
that function suddenly stopped. Anyone else had this issue, where the
embosser works with test patterns and menus, but doesn't respond to
commands given from Word or Duxbury? See more details below. I hope
switching to my other embosser will indeed provide a solution. Thanks
for your insights.

                Subject: embossing problem

Tonight I started to notice a problem when trying to
emboss a file using Duxbury and my Juliet embosser. Whenever I type
the emboss command on my computer, the file emboss dialog immediately
goes away and the main window returns, and the embosser remains
dormant and unresponsive. I tried reloading paper, resetting the
embosser, changing or verifying embosser setup from the Duxbury file,
etc., but to no avail.

I went through a user guide and tried out some print
tests, and the embosser brailled out the selected tests or patterns
found in service menu selections--dot patterns, graphics, etc. The
embosser itself works with those functions, but it has suddenly
stopped responding to a command given from the Duxbury file.

I wonder if sometime you can stop by and see what's
going on with the embosser when I try to emboss a document from DBT,
or maybe switch me over to another embosser I have, to see if the
problem is with the embosser. If the other embosser works, then the
one that's currently plugged in has a malfunction. If the one we try
doesn't work either, then there's a problem with the Duxbury software
or something. I look forward to your help ASAP. Thanks.
