Work has been done in the past, to my understanding. The MAC OS is based on the unix platform. In that DBT is primarily table driven, I don't think it would be all that cost prohibitive as you put it. I think where you may find a challenge is the interfacing to MAC word processing products and other packages. That said, if a linux / unix / mac product became available, it would be well received. Most solutions required using an windows emulator which means the software was still windows but adjusted to run, and sometimes not so well, on a different operating system. A true software program written to run on an Apple/Macintosh platform without any assistance while possible would probably be cost prohibited. Most of the braille software we enjoy today is based on programs written and/or designed back in the 70's. So for forty plus years it been a Microsoft world with only an occasional bone tossed to the Apple/Macintosh community. Granted there is a much greater Apple/Macintosh population today than ever before but consider the cost. How much would it cost a to design, develop, test, debug, and market the software. And finally how many would buy. How many would be needed for the company to break even. Do not let this stop or even hinder the talk about new software there obviously a desire just maybe not a need. But who knows time will tell. -----Original Message----- From: duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Linda Triasmono Sent: Wednesday, September 15, 2010 1:31 AM To: duxuser@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [duxuser] Re: Duxbury for Apple Well, It is to be hoped that, now that Apple are doing so much wonderful stuff with Voiceover, our good friends at Duxbury jump on the band wagon and supply us Mac users with something that works well. I love my Macbook, and can't wait to be able to use it for my transcription work. AT the moment, even the little Perkyduck for Mac can't be installed. Or can it? Perhaps someone out there has a solution. Cheers, LInda Triasmono On 15/09/2010, at 2:55 PM, Kaari Parrish wrote: > > > Several years ago, there was a version of Dux for Macs.
