Evening everyone.

First of all sorry, I have not yet
managed to work out the debater of the month. The start of the WODC has taken
up
most of my time over the last few days. I hope to have it done by Friday. On
the
subject of the WODC I encourage you to read the debates as they are completed
and to vote on which side you think made their case best – not the side which
you personally agree with. The public vote can act as a tiebreaker when the two
judges don’t agree so voting does have meaning.

Lists of the WODC debates once
they have started can be found http://debatewise.org/wodc-debates-2010

As a reminder the links and
introductions are at http://debatewise.info/index.php/tasks/one-hour-tasks

Debates:

Should Chavez be taken
seriously by the USA?

UAE and Saudi Arabia are right
to ban Blackberrys.

The internet is a useful tool
for law enforcement

It should be compulsory for
all mothers to breastfeed for the first six months of their babies
lives.

Wild swimming is better than
indoor swimming.

On site
China should be allowed more
control over its own seas.

Should Wikileaks founder Julian
Assange be arrested?

Can government lending targets
for banks work?

Does the availability of the
internet as a resource encourage plagiarism?
