Thank you very much! I'm going to let my local dealer try first on
Wednesday morning. If that doesn't work, I will definitely ask for your
assistance. I'll leave everything alone until then.
Bob.

Well if you have skype and jaws tandom capabilities, I can definitely help
in this area, work on geting sonar up and running, and also on optimizing
your system to make it a better daw. If you're interested let me know!

Hi D.J.X. Sorry, I really don't have a clue. I went from using an analog
4-track recorder for home demos to Sonar back in 2006. Although I
understand Sonar and the basics of Windows, I have not yet learned about the
guts of a PC although I probably should in the near future. What I will
probably do is locate an expert on Sonar and Del systems near me to make a
house call, rip the system to pieces and start over.
Bob.

OK, a few questions, a bit technical, but necessary to help you
troubleshoot:
I'd imagine that your daw is using the x58 chipset?
If not, is it using p55? (do you know?) (I hope they're not using anything
in the h series).
Do you know exactly what processor, 800 series or 900? (This helps figure
your possible board chipset.)
Do you know what motherboard brand dell has put in your system? (They don't
always manufacturer them, they just brand them with the dell name but
they're really made by a third party board manufacturer.)
What firewire chipset are you using?
Have you tried using legacy firewire drivers for your card instead of the
standard windows 7 one? (Focusrite hasn't fully developed firewire drivers
to work with the new windows7 firewire drivers on x64 systems.)
Depending on what info you can give me I can perhaps help you better. If
you'd like, feel free to write me privately at djx@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx, as to not
clutter the list with useless technical chatter on this part of the thread.

Regards, D!J!X!

Hi. I don't have a specific question at this time. I just want to rant for
a moment.

Del Optiplex, I7 processor with several cores, 8 gigs of ram, Windows 7
Pro 64, new Focusrite Saffire 14 with Phil's working hot spots, Sonar 8.5.3
with Cake Talking patched all the way up to the latest and I still get
errors, latency problems with soft synthes and over all slow performance.
WTF? I have spent more time mucking with this new system than I have
enjoying it. At least the new sound card/rack mount sounds great through
the stereo. Things may improve once I figure out how the route channels and
mixes with the hot spots. I truly appreciate all the work that so many
people have done to make Sonar 64 and Cake Talking the best that it can be.
I must be doing something wrong in Windows 7, Saffire Mix Control or
somewhere else.

    Any ideas are welcome.
Bob.
