So the best way to get good guitar tones would be hardware?
If so any good affordable recommendations?
I tried Line 6 PodFarm, no go either.
I've got a couple nice guitar samples, but they could use feeding through some
distortions and the occasional chorus or wah pedal and such lol.

I wish we could access Bias Desktop, or iOS for that matter. You can pick all
the components of your amp, and the rest of the signal chain as well.
As far as I know, no parameters are exposed in the VST, and I couldn't figure
out how to do anything wiht the iOS version.
