OK, Gord. I'll keep playing with it. Thanks for the help. I hope we can get
the CT docs updated to reflect this new way of doing automation.

Hi,

This is really from Gordon Kent (not me):

Damon:
If you want to redo an automation passage, disable automation read so
that you won't be fighting the old automation. Then just remember to
reenable it to hear your changes. I haven't had any problems with it, I
think it is much better than the old way. It is more consistent with
the way other production software works, like pro tools, which has been
doing it like that forever.

Gord. After working with things last night, automation recording is a =
little flaky. If I enable automation write, sometimes nothing happens =
and I have to leave my project and come back in. When you do an =
automation take, do you have to disable automation write to make it =
work, or will the automation work automatically. This seems a bit =
inconsistent. Also, if I want to fix something I did, I have to undo or =
else any new automation rewrites don't seem to work. Maybe I just have =
to get used to it, but it is just weird and there is nothing in the CT =
docs about it, it is still referencing the old methods.

Yes, automation snapshots still work as they always have.

OK, Gord. Does automation snapshots still apply, then, since it =
appears in the right click menu?

    Damon:

The whole system for doing automation in sonar 6 is different and =
really much simpler. You just press enter over the widget that says =
"Automation write is disabled" and press enter to enable it. Then, you =
just do whatever you want to do while in normal playback. =20

OK. Running sonar producer 6.2.1 with ct 6.2.2. Everything is =
working great except the commands for automation. For instance, I arm =
volume or any control for automation in track view. I then press control =
R. I hear the message to begin automation record, but nothing happens. =
If I take a snapshot with control double R, I hear the message but =
nothing happens. The automation event doesn't even appear in the edit =
menu for undo history. Now, I know automation works because if I use the =
application key to right click the volume widget, then up arrow to =
automation snapshot, then the automation snapshot works, but I still =
can't go into automation record in any way. The automation toolbar is =
turned on along with several other things, but I did not modify any =
toolbar settings except the snes that the ct scripts tell me to like the =
large transport toolbar being turned off. And yes, f6 to refresh track =
view didn't do anything. The test utility says that all my display =
settings are correct and the only test I see in the tests dialogue are =
to enable the sonar control surface which is working. What am I missing? =
It worked with sonar 5 in caketalking 5. I uninstalled all caketalking =
versions and reinstalled just ct6.2.2 and that didn't help either. Help =
me!!!
