Have you tried looking at Windows event log?
As far as I know VirtualRPC is a supported product - as Peter Young
said, visit their forum, but there may be documentation on version
numbers and compatibility.
Which reminds me, you can right click apps in Windows, and set options
to run them as if on old versions of Windows, and this can easily make
the difference between something working and not working.
Right click->properties->compatibility
