The jpeg is a 'progressive' one. Passing it through TranJPEG to
convert it to 'normal', it then loads happily into DPScan
1.27/1.28.
Progressive Jpeg, (I know what they are) Just wondered what camera
the friend used to take it... I must ask him.
It may be nothing to do with the camera, which probably saves in
normal .jpg format. But if you modify the image in Photoshop Elements
it gives 3 options for how to save it:
(a) Baseline Standard,
(b) Baseline Optimised,
(c) Progressive, with up to 5 passes.
I have no idea what these are, but I do know that in processing some
images for the parish mag, they occasionally default to Progressive &
then they're unreadable in !Thump on RISC OS, so I then re-save them
as Standard.
