The problem that I have is that applications these days will find a way to
squeeze every last bit power from your machine.  It's like they think RAM,
Disk Space and CPU power are an unlimited resource.  You see the same in
video games as well.  Star Citizen is a 100GB download.  WTF!?

A few years ago I was doing the same kind of work on my machine with 2GB of
RAM and a slower CPU and HDD.  Now with 4 times the amount of computing
power I'm 4 times less productive.

I feel that computing power vs application requirements is a metaphor for
the human condition.
