Give this place a glance at the bottom. Not exactly what you're looking for,
but it'll give you the extended life of the doodlebug.

I've ordered an unpainted Bachmann HO Gas Electric "Doodlebug' from
my LHS, with the plan of having it painted in CPR Tuscan Red with a
black roof, similar to CPR 9004 but lettered for the Grizzly
Northern (a CPR subsidiary). In looking at photos of 9004 I see that
in early days 9004's cab face seems in B&W to be the same colour as
the sides, whereas in its last days in service its cab face and
sides were yellow with Tuscan Red stripes. Photos of yellow-faced
9004 show it fitted with a snow-plow pilot in one case and with a
boiler-pipe plow in another.
I'd like to know when the yellow and red stripe paint scheme was
introduced, also whether the snow-pilot was a winter only feature.
I'm also interested in any technical details regarding 9004, an
Electro-Motive/St. Louis Car product- where to look?
Thanks for any help!
