I believe that "Action Red" is technically " Vermilion" , a half red, half
orange blend that would seem brighter than either
Recall that units were painted in that scheme over a 20 year period and
that paint formulations had to change over the years, primarily due to
concerns for environmentally friendly paints
Unfortunately the repaints of the 80's were of these paints and they
faded/weathered oddly to a color some would call "Action Pink"
IMO, ymmv, etc
