Hi Joe - thanks for your help.  I haven't received your message from Yahoo 
yet, but thanks to Paul's message have a copy.  Your observation that when 
an actual car is taken from one train and moved on to another it shows up in 
the public timetable - sounds like a good working theory to me.  I had 
noticed some of the examples you provide, but hadn't thought it through. 
The one caveat I wonder about is that so many of the minor runs have no 
consist info at all.  In those cases is it safe to take the complete silence 
as meaning that no cars were transferred?  I suspect yes.  But it feels like 
working on the basis that a negative proves a positive ... if you get the 
problem I mean.

I'd be interested in seeing any photos of passenger trains in Revelstoke in 
the mid 40's - it would be interesting to see just what was being used for 
equipment.  Of course, most of the photos will be of the mainline trains.... 
I'll have to spend some more time up at the Revelstoke Railway Museum going 
through their photos this summer (if the family will tolerate it).
