Hi Robert,
How about one question at a time, I think I can answer most of
them. But its going to take a little bit of time.
Train 809/810 was a mixed only had one combine. circa 1950 to 1959
Combine 3303. Prior to this it was most probibly a wooden combine.
It's late I'll get back to this tomorrow.

I've been working through the 1945, 1946 and 1947 timetables I have
side the 1944 and 1947 MP14's trying to build up consist lists. IfI get it
all typed out (presently its in handwriting), I'll post it to thelist. But
there are already a few questions that those documents leave. Notthat I
expect anyone to provide answers, but any help would be appreciated:consists
- which cars listed in the MP14 would be "coaches" as listed in the
in public timetables? First class cars?be "tourist"
- would and "14 section" Tourist cars listed in the timetable
cars as listed in the MP14, or 14 section Sleepers? What thenabout the 13
section cars? I am assuming the 13 section tourist cars were the6320-6338
series, and the 14 section tourist cars were the 6200-6229 and 6230-6249
series? Is that correct?information
- is there a source for air conditioned or not air conditioned
on the cars in the MP14?steel cars
- is it fair to assume that (apart from wartime exceptions) only
would have been on any of the transcontinental trains? I.e. steelsheathed
would be off on the branchlines? Eg. 12-1 sleepers?Fort
- would "observation sleepers" as described inthe timtables be the
series cars? Might this category also include the CompartmentObservation
Sleepers - I.e. the Mount series? Which observation sleepers werethe 1
drawing room, 3 compartment type, and which were the 4 double bedroom, 1
compartment type?the
- likewise, the Compartment Sleepers with 10 compartments listed in
timetable I am assuming were the Glen Blow and the other cars ofthe Glen
series. Of course there were other compartment cars types -Buffet Lounge
Compartment sleeping cars, Solarium Compartment Lounges, andperhaps others.
but the Glen group all had a seated capacity of 40, with easilydivides into
10 compartments with 4 seats per compartment and makes me thinkthese are
the right cars.mystery
- The 8-1-2 sleepers described inthe timetable are also a bit of a
to me. The MP 14 descriptions do not break down the varioussleeper series
in this precise way, and so it could include the R and both Vseries cars.
Anyone able to confirm?to
- the timetables do not provide a consist for 809/810 - the train
Huntingdon. Anyone have clues?which
- I'm not sure whether the 801/802 Robson West/Revelstoke train -
shows coming to Vancouver as part of No.3 and leaving as part ofNo.8 in my
1946 TT, would actually involve a specific car, or wether thepassengers
would have to move from one car to another in Revelstoke?
Thanks again for any further comments,
Rob Kirkham
