I have corrected a couple of other errors that they did change but they were
not attribution problems but total misIDs on where the art appeared. They seem
to not be doing a lot of work on some pieces.
One guess is that the www.comics.org website has a lot of bad Archie
attributions as that is a pretty specialized field and it is easy to make
changes to the www.comics.org data . Like a lot of online sites everyone is an
expert even those that don't know anything. I am really weak on Archie IDs but
I have a 2 page story that is attributed to Vigoda by people who know this
stuff and there have been recent Decarlo attributed pages on Heritage that look
a lot like my Vigoda ones . Much as I would love to own a 2 page DeCarlo story
from the 1950's my guess is mine is Vigoda.

I’ve noticed a disturbing trend in auctions of Archie art at Heritage. Several
lots have listed "Dan DeCarlo (Attributed)” as the artist when the art is
clearly by another artist and shows no sign of Dan even touching it. I’ve
emailed Heritage about these errors but to no avail. I’m wondering if they have
someone in-house who does the attributions of art, or are they just taking the
word of the person who’s putting the art up for auction? It seems like someone,
whether Heritage or the seller, is trying to drive up sale prices on art by
lesser artists.
