Concluding the Howard the Human sequence, Howard is tempted sexually by Amy
Pope, one of Gene Colan's sumptuous females, and 2D carafe for writer Steve
Gerber to decant his observations and ideas about women, and current trends in
M/F relationships in general. A flashback in Howard the Duck #20 explains that
Howard’s off-panel amorous night with Amy “activated his adrenal glands, among
others…and triggered a biochemical reversal of the evolvo-chambers’s effects,”
returning him to his true duck form.
HTD was a perfect marriage of Steve Gerber's writing and Gene Colan's art. The
word balloons with Gerber's idiosyncratic dialogue have, alas, fallen off the
page.
