`Well the Sistine Chapel art definitely tells a story (although last time i was
there, they tried to stop me even taking a photo inside, never mind running off
with the originals…..) - likewise the Bayeaux Tapestry, etc….
I guess we all know what comics are, really, but I believe the important thing
is not to worry too much about the definitions and just enjoy looking at it. I
never quite figured the ticking-the-extra-box bit, I’ll have to start doing
that for illustration. i have recently acquired a couple of Vargas pieces, for
example, which i presume could go into both but if i decided to put them on
line, i’d use CAF.

I think it’s perfectly ok to put any sorta-related art on CAF. Everyone can
choose what to look at. I mean, it’s up the Bill in the end and the ‘rules’
for Caf and the ‘rules’ for this list (do we even have any since we moved
service? Alex is the king of that question!) aren’t the same thing. But
whereas I know some collectors/list-members might see only published comic
book art as ‘viable’, many, I’d say most, have less tight boundaries and are
happy with sketches, commissions, illustration art, book covers….hell, if
someone here bought a Rembrandt or part of the Sistine Chapel, and wanted to
put that up, I’d be happy to look….

Besides Illustration is now a component of CAF including a lot of work by
illustrators who did not work in comics (and while there is a lot of
crossover there are also many who worked solely in illustration.) George

James Martin worked with Neal Adams at Continuity Studios. So unless all art
by comic artists that was not done for a comic book is barred, this is art by
a comic book artist.

On December 21st I contacted James and sent along photo reference for this
possible commission. James responded positively and enthusiastically right
away: "Absolutely! Could do something really special with that! May get to
this one sooner than later! ;)" By December 31st the commission was completed
and it was mailed right after the New Year's holiday, arriving here January
13th.
This lovely commission is 11" x 14".
