  Hello,

I've heard about "phishing" on the news and thought it would be good to
find out more. "Phishing" is an e-mail scam where a fraudulent e-mail appears
to be legitimate. There is a request for you to update your information and a
hyperlink is provided. The scammer is trying to get you to provide personal or
account information.
Scam artists send out millions of scam e-mails hoping a few receivers will
provide their information. It is profitable for scammers because they can
easily access millions of valid e-mail addresses.
The best way to avoid being "phished" is to never click the links within
the text of an e-mail. If you suspect you're being "phished" delete the e-mail
immediately.
     At http://www.antiphishing.org/phishing-archive.html there are many
examples of "phishing" e-mails that have been sent. One that was supposedly
sent from Regions Banks tells the receiver that their account was compromised.
To prevent fraudulent activity from occurring, they have to open an
investigation. If you do not update your account within 72 hours, your account
will be suspended because they will know you've been a victim. You just have to
click on the link with SSL secured connection. At the bottom of the e-mail it
says "Please remember Regions Bank will never ask you for your pin". The e-mail
has a professional design and appears to really have come from Regions Bank.
Many account holders could be fooled by this e-mail.

I hope none of us are ever fooled by this scam.
