Hey Jordan.If I remember correctly from your original letter that you stated that you were flying your private citation X Bird.
Try starting the approach at around 22 or 20 miles out.I know I usually try to wait until I here the message turn such and such and to contact the tower for landing instructions. Then use the voice command about recognize landing clearance.I myself then would run the approach checklist just after using that recognize landing clearance. But I have found from tryal and error that around 22 to 20 miles out works better for the approach checklist.
