For, Robert and all.
How does one know if when you come to a airport and you do find the localizer
that the ils has a glide sloop or not?
Because if it does not then you can tell your trusty copilot or is it first
officer to perform a landing via sight instead of a ILS.
Just my two cents on the topic.

Simply conduct a Visual Approach

I'm just guessing but in this case would you not do a VFR approatch? If not
then how would you go about doing this?

There are some approaches which offer a localizer for horizontal guidance, but
no vertical guidance, aka a glide slope.

But no matter what, I keep holding level at 1,600 feet AGL. I executed going
around once, when I realized I had not captured the glideslope, but it didn't
help.
