Hi all,

I cannot agree more. I love all of Rutter's stuff. I don't think there is a more beautiful setting of the 23rd Psalm than the one from his Requiem. The Gloria is indeed a wonderful piece.

I have sung a good deal of Rutter in my thirty years with Rochester Oratorio Society. It's always both a pleasure and a challenge to sing his works.

Some are stirring like military music. Others, like the theme from the beginning of The Requiem are so melodic that it brings tears to your eyes. Yep, definitely one of our modern composers who actually knows how to write music. Some of these contemporary folks I wouldn't give you two figs for, but Rutter's definitely on top!
