Hello Natalie: Often ebooks in PDF format come locked. This lock makes it impossible for screen readers to read the file. You can contact the publisher and explain that you need an unlocked pdf to read with your screen reading software. They may or may not ablige you. If all else fails you can return the books for a refund. I'm going nuts here and need help Hi everyone, I really apologize for this e-mail, but I'm going out of my mind and I'm hoping someone on this mailing list can help me out in any way possible. Just some background infor: For a while I've been interested in a few ebooks on a particular website. I'd never bought an ebook before, so was very leery. Especailly since two of them came in PDF format. While I haven't had pleasant experiences with PDF, I've done okay. Anyway, so this morning I took a chance and purchase the books. Well, I've been spending practically all day trying to figure out why Jaws won't read them. According to a couple of websites that talked about using screen readers with Adobe, I should be able to read it. However, that hasn't been the case. I'm pretty sure the file is opening, but no matter what I do, I can't seem to read the file. I followed as much as I could of the websites FAQ stuff and I believe I have the right Adobe, but I just can't read it! The books didn't cost me that much, but I would hate to think that I paid money for something that I can't enjoy. I've already e-mailed the website, but as it's Sunday, they won't be responding until at the very least Monday. I'm too nuts over this situation to wait, which is why I'm e-mailing the list. Has anyone had experiences like mine? Did they ever get past them? Or am I just out of luck? I'll say thanks in advance. And if anyone wants to e-mail me privately, my e-mail is lemina007@xxxxxxxxxxx Thanks, Natalie
