I wouldn't do a book if there is no email address though, if you get a bad book or have a question there's no way to get a hold of them.

Folks who are new to validating may want to choose books from submitters who do great scans. That way you get to learn while working on a book with an "excellent" rating.

Books by Monica, Shelly, Jamie Yeats, and of course Carrie Karnos are great choices.

Avoid books submitted by "a bookshare volunteer" at least in the beginning. If you know the submitter's name you may be able to work on a book better by getting in touch on the volunteer list. People who put their names as submitter on a book are proud of the quality they create

The volunteer manual is a good place to start for info on validating. So is use of a good spell checker. If you have rank spelling in Kurzweil it is faster and often better than a standard spell checker. Besides the way it is set up makes correcting words almost fun.
