I did see at least some of those, and I mentioned a few authors that I liked in addition to the ones you listed such as Jordan, Martin, Williams, Feist, Donaldson and Elliott. That's not a complete list, but those are among my favorites.

Friday evenings are good for me. Out here on the West coast, my Saturday morning may be most other people's Saturday afternoon; and other people's Saturday morning may be too early for me. But if you choose Friday evening, I'll be there for sure. I'm looking forward to it.

I was thinking about that, and maybe that's what I'll do. I had gotten some response from folks on list when I posed the question earlier about what books they were interested in, but I only got a few responses. Maybe you didn't see any of those. Either way, I think your idea is probably the best. Now we just need to decide on a time that is going to work for people.

Why not get people's ideas on what interests them in this huge field and let them put out some ideas during the first meeting and see if people arrive at a consensus as to what book to start with?

Just my thought.

I was giving it some thought, and I have narrowed some possible choices for the fantasy club's first book to just a few:

1. The Book of Three by Lloyd Alexander
2. Eye of the World by Robert Jordan (the first in the Wheel of Time series) 3. Dragons of Autumn Twilight by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman (Dragonlance Chronicles Vol. 1)

My preference is for the Dragonlance book. I know somebody on the list had mentioned that the copy in the collection needed some cleaning up, but it has an excellent rating. Was the copy updated/rescanned since whoever it was that mentioned that read the book? I haven't skimmed the current copy yet.

PS: What times work for people? Friday afternoons or Saturday mornings work best for me.
