Hi all,

Hey, Kim, if they were all written down, then they'd migrate from Folk songs to composed songs. Reading a score of A L'ouette isn't the same as learning to sing it. We have to keep up the traditions here, you know.

Of course, I'm prejudice because any folk song I ever learned, I learned by ear. By the time I was in a chorus that sang a folk song, I knew it, and only had to modify to fit the arranger. Besides, arrangers sometimes do an awful job of arranging a song, making it much more complicated and fancy than it need be. Look at what all those arrangers have done with Silent Night. They ruin it with augmented chording and blah! It's supposed to be simple, straight forward and plain, like good wheaten bread.

Just my thoughts on a funny Tuesday afternoon.
