You are absolutely correct about the battery life being considerably shorter
when playing audio formats as opposed to text formats. This is why I went to
using lithium ion batteries--I do a lot of reading of books from Audible and
its more cost effective.

I love the Book port for all the things we talk about. For me, however, it
seems that playing mp3 audio files, music or spoken word, on my Book port
really uses up the battery more quickly than using it for other file types.
I would rather use a different player for that type of all night music
listening and save my Book port battery for reading. The little audio
players out there now with the hard drives, and that are rechargeble, such
as my Rio Carbon with its 5 gig of space, recharges when plugged into the AC
adaptor or to the USB port. So that is is, is just me. Good listening,
whatever audio boat you float upon.
Thanks to the post recently with the tip about the Newsline papers now
available email delivery subscription. I had not heard about that. No more
tipping the newboy. Such a great time we have now. Except of course if we
consider all the bad times we are also having. Hmmm.
