Thanks for the help. I had hoped to get a different suggestion, but it worked! After formating, and plugging into the USB port I did get an error message "error accessing index..." but the download worked fine so far. Reformatting does erase information. So, if you don't want to resend files, you can copy them using My Computer or Windows Explorer. Once you've reformatted, you can then copy the files back. If you do this, however, you have to be showing hidden files and copy all of the files, so you will be able to listen to them and so that you can retain your place within that file. If you don't care about that, then it may be easier to just transfer the files again.
