William, T he little metal tube is just a spare microphone. On theo A C power cord plug oni end of the branch into the charging stand and the other into the adapter. Fold the headset and turn the ear pads inward. There will be two identical projections on the bottom that fit into the stand. it does't matter which is which. You can also plug the charging cable directly into the right side projection, These projections are pencil diameter. The cord with the 3.5 mm plug on each end is for use on a plane or if the battery is exhausted. You should turn the devices off when charging to shorten the charging time.

Richard, thanks, you are the man. The adapter was indeed, not turned on, and now..... it works. Thanks again. Is there a special trick to turning on the USB charger as well? The manual says something about turning a not, but I can't seem to figure out where that is. Also, there is a little metal (I think) tube that came in a little ziplock bag. It looks similar to the microphone. Do you know what the purpose of that is? Thanks again. -----Original Message----- From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Richard Benoit Sent: Sunday, February 25, 2007 5:46 AM To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookport] Re: Plantronics Pulsar 590A headphones Hi William, You didn't mention turning on the adaptor, so if you didn't, this is how you do it. There is a ring shaped switch that surrounds the center button that has what feel like serrations It turns quite hard so take both thumbnails and turn counterclockwise until you feel a definite click. There will be a blue flashing light (you may need sighted help). The switch turns easier with use. Also, make sure that the volume on the Bookport is up and the volume on the headset is up (the front ridge shaped button on the headset). Hopefully it will be that you just didn't have the adaptor switch on. I just bought a pair for my wife's use, and I have no clue what I'm doing. I think both parts are charged, and when I slide what I think is the on/off switch on the headset, I get a low tone after about ten seconds or so. I'v scanned the manual, and learned a little, but obviouslynotenough. So, help will be much appreciated.
