I can confirm what Neal says on this card. The write speed is excellent, and I wouldn't go to an ultra unless it is for my digital camera. That is where milliseconds could be crucial.

Actually, I have a regular Sanddisk card, not the ultra, and it works
fine on my professional audio recorder at 96 HZ. That is far above CD
quality which is only 44.1 HZ. So, there is definitely no reason for
anyone using the book port to have to purchase an ultra 2 card.

Subject: [bookport] High-Performance CF Cards

Hello:

I've purchased three of the sandisk 2GB Ultra II CompactFlash memory
cards
in the past six months, and I swear by them. Now, two things: (1),
they're
not cheap, ($179.95 from buy.com), and (2) yes, despite the "ultra II"

marketing designation, they *are type 1 cards; I know, as I said, I
own and
use three of them.

My initial reason for choosing cards with such fast write-rewrite
speeds was
because I also wanted / envisioned these cards being used in my
plextalk
PTR1 recorder as well as my book port.

Mindful of Rob Meridith's comments, if you can get a *reliable 2GB CF
card
for $99, I'm not sure the increased navigation speed in the book port
is
worth the additional $80 you'll pay for a sandisk card, but also, keep
in
mind that the sandisk cards come with a lifetime warranty; won't help
you
much as far as data loss if you haven't backed up your card data to
your
hard drive or other storage medium, but at least you won't be out
almost two
C notes.

Below is the information about the sandisk ultra II 2GB CompactFlash
memory
card as taken from the buy.com website...for informational purposes
only.
