Have you done a "2" plus "b" to return the factory settings?

I am going to respond to both messages.

I've tried to insert another blank CF card with no results.

As suggested, I have also removed the battery, left them out for about an
hour, and plugged in the Bookport. Same results occurred. At this point, I
sense hardware trouble that can't be fixed by software solutions. Unless
APH staff can suggest something else, I seem to be out of options.

What happens when you take out the batteries, leave them out for a
while, put them in, and plug the unit into your USB port?
