I am going to respond to both messages.

I've tried to insert another blank CF card with no results.

As suggested, I have also removed the battery, left them out for about an
hour, and plugged in the Bookport.  Same results occurred.  At this point, I
sense hardware trouble that can't be fixed by software solutions.  Unless
APH staff can suggest something else, I seem to be out of options.
