Gee, aren't the Enabling Technology Embossers dropped from 5 or 10 feet in the air down on to a hard surface? Maybe they do that with the BookPort. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten so into a book that I forgot I was wearing headphone, the BookPort was laying on the table or in my lap, and I got up and walked away. Well as you know, the headphone jack is not a security lock for preventing the BookPort from slamming into the floor or whatever hard object in near by. But knock on wood, my faithful BookPort keeps right on working. Occasionally it wouldn't come up to ready when you turned it on. A friend of mine told me to hold it about a foot above the desk and drop it. Yep, it fixed the problem. So, whenever that happened I would give it a jolt and away it would go again for the next several months. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bruce Toews" <dogriver@xxxxxxxx> To: <bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, March 02, 2007 9:37 AM Subject: [bookport] Re: I tried to kill my Bookport :I had one of the original tape-based VersaBrailles back in the eighties. : It had a neglegeble, but chronic problem ...
