Hey David, welcome to the BC world! Yes, the "unknown" status is correct since BC is unable to determent the correct remaining charge with rechargeable batteries.

Hi People,

As a fairly new book Courier convert, I have just had to change the
batteries for the first time. I used non-rechargeables at first but now
have put in rechargeable batteries. I notice that there are settings for
rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries and that when as now I am using
rechargeables, the available power percentage is unknown. Is this correct?
Also if I change the setting to normal batteries, it tells me I have 75%
availble. Is this accurate? Someone please explain for me.
