It's so easy to believe in lush grass behind a fence one can't see over. If l
started enumerating the failures of modern Scandanvia this minute l'd never
stop writing. Well educated US citizens are constantly holding up these very
small countries as paragons. The institutions and systems they admire are some
idealized phigment of 40-50 years ago. Malmø, Sweden's 3rd largest city, has
the highest murder rate in Europe. Anyone that can afford to go abroad for
elective medical procedures does so because the wait at home is so abysmally
long. One out of 100 rapes reported in Oslo results in a conviction. 1 out of 4
bombs dropped on Libya was a Norwegian bomb. This country of 5 million humans
has signed a contract to buy 55 F35 jets at a cost of how many billion? They
plan to pay for it with the 400 million farm raised Salmon shitting in their
fjords(Norwegian capital owns an additional 135 million salmon in British
Columbia, half of them smitten with piscine distemper that will infect our wild
fish and Canada's every time they escape)&. Sweden legalized private schools in
1992. Now 26% of white Swedish children attend them. The leading political
party in the polls is not the Social Democrats(they are number 3) but the
Sweden Democrats=modern Nazi party. Its founder was a Swedish citizen who
served as SS officer in Berlin then stepped onto a Red Cross bus in 1945 and
got a free ride home. It wouldn't be accurate to call the Sweden Democrats
"neo" Nazis because they represent a continuum of the original dudes.
Scandanavia has a wealth of negative role models for improving the USA but l am
unaware of ANY for real positive examples. Above all, their environmental
protection track record is abysmal relative to ours . There is ample room for
improvement in our country, but it remains a trend setter in social progress to
virtually every country on Earth.Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

Look at Pew Research’s stats on world views of the United States. Utterly
embarrassing. Those who benefit from Consumerist Vulture Capatalism are by and
large indifferent to the need for a greater good. That is the pair of cement
shoes that is taking us straight to the bottom. Warmest regards,George Miller

examples are Venezuela, North Korea and Cuba. Venezuela is a failed
nation-state for a number of reasons, and North Korea and Cuba are communist.
All three are/were governed by dictators or strongmen. So, what to do any of
them have to do with socialism, exactly? No, Sweden and Denmark are not
socialist – at least you got that right. They and a number of other European
countries are often described as social democracies, where the government plays
a larger role in society, particularly in the areas of health care, education
and the social safety net. These countries are not without their flaws, but
many of them have a higher standard of living than the US by any number of
measures. Sounds pretty good to me. Or do you prefer this country’s current
oligarchy with our government of, by and for the rich, and the resulting
obscene wealth disparities? We have widespread hunger, poverty, homelessness,
etc. in the wealthiest country in the world. It seems obvious to me that
something’s not working right. I’m not a socialist in the true sense of the
word, but I believe that our particular form of consumerist vulture capitalism
is a disaster. ------------Olin AllenMonmouth ORolinallen@xxxxxxxxxxxxx From:

Remarkable citation of BOO content regarding Meadowlarks Yawl would probably
not enjoy Venezuela, North Korea, or Cuba. Sweden and Denmark are not
socialist. It just doesn’t work well for most people. When I asked a second
cousin, once removed, in Croatia if people missed socialism, he responded that
only the communists do. The once poor village by the sea has become a
prosperous place since the country abandoned socialism. A cousin suggested
that I move “home”. Its tempting. See Podstrana, Croatia:
