Hi, People
Today I wish to bother you guys with something that may just open a can of
worms, as so many people don't seem to be active on the Internet? My question
to you is; How do you get on the Internet, what method do you use, fixed line,
Telkom, 3G, a cell phone, a data memory stick, blackberry, Iphone, laptop,
computer, tablet, paraffin stove? And how much does this cost you? How
easy/difficult is it for you to get connected every time?
I know I have this interesting thing that looks like a memory stick; it has a
SIM card inside, but to get connected to this thing takes some time, as as soon
as you plug this thing into a computer, a picture comes up, with another kind
of picture that Jaws doesn't tell you about, while it takes some doing to find
this "Connect" button by moving the mouse, when using NVDA. This thing is
really foolproof, as it fools me... So, here's another gadget lying around
somewhere in my house without any use. And I still haven't figured out what the
OCR in j13 and NVDA 2012.2 actually is supposed to be for; once again, it
doesn't turn me on? Am I , perhaps, becoming too old to be turned on by
gadgets??

And then I've had this Nokia 6210 Navigator which I have been using for over 3
years now; I simply plug it into my laptop, ENTER on a "Connect" link which I
created myself on my laptop, and as soon as I hear it has connected, I can then
go hit my own "Internet" link. This has been serving me very well over the
last 3 years, but since then I have had to "upgrade" to a c5, which now uses
Nokia OVI Suite, instead of the old trusted Nokia PC Suite. This OVI thing
sips my airtime faster than I can sip any beer, for some reason, so I'm scared
out of my wits of it. With the old, I could be on the Net for hours, and if I
don't download or upload, it only took me 1 or 2 MB's. Then new one makes 100
MB disappear like nothing else.

My problem now is; if something would happen to this old 6210, what am I going
to do?

Do any of you have a Plan B for me? Is there a 3G stick which you can actually
connect yourself if you're blind? Is there a "Speaking phone" left which can
actually still be used as modem, without costing me an arm and a leg? Or,
maybe, my next laptop could have a SIM slot under its battery, and its user
interface is actually accessable? If you know about such a laptop, pleas let me
know; bearing in mind that I tend to be a bit slow in understanding things,
these days...?

If there's anything left these days which is actually blind-user-friendly, do
let me know, will you????!
