I personally use Registry First Aid which is very speech friendly and
totally automatic if you want it to be.  Unfortunately, I don't recall the
url for the program but a quick Google search should find it.  I'm sure
there other good ones out there as well, but you want to choose one that
will automatically back up your registry before making changes and allow you
to restore the previous registry as it was.  I have never had any trouble
with Registry First Aid however.

I hear some use CCleaner to do this but haven't used it myself.
