If a capture is interrupted by a power outage or some such occurrence the .cap files may result. They can often be converted with Replay Converter. The resulting recordings aren't the most stable or the highest in quality but you may still be able to hear most of the audio content. Sometimes, these files don't get recorded correctly or are missing some data and remain as CAP files. If you change the name from WGN.cap to WGN.mp3, for example, they will often play.
