Each and every one of us are biased by the events in our lives. Each
event viewed by us is interpreted through our personal bias'. The
problem is that far too often each of us believes that how we see an
issue or an event is the absolute truth. And we refuse to admit that
what we know is the result of our personal experiences. Of course we
also find support through the eyes of those who agree with us. That's
how "absolute Truth" is formed. Religion is a good example.

That is a very good example of what you mention in your opening statements.
McCourt’s brother also wrote a book, not a novel, and it pretty much tells
the same kind of story from his viewpoint and also deals with other times in
their lives.
So, there it is, one truth does not negate all others when it comes to
experiences and certainly not in the interpretation of those experiences and
the far-reaching effects of experiences. One person living a past life of
horrible deprivation becomes a selfish, miserly bastard, another vows, along
with Scarlet, never to be hungry again, another dedicates him/herself to
alleviating the suffering of those around him/her in the present day.
And no matter what course of action is taken in later life, the person will
be lauded by some and vilified by others...

Miriam, there were wealthy and poor Jews (or any group for that matter)

any environment; and obviously some made it toeh US. Also don't believe
everything you read as it is often an oversimplification of what is being
stated. For instance one part of the wealth of U.S. Jews came due to

War 2. Last year the American Council of the Blind held its conference in
Dallas and one of the optional tours was to a holocaust museum. It was a
very powerful tour. I have been to holocaust memorials before but what
made
this different was that we had a talk from a 92 year old holocaust
survivor.
One thing he emphasized is that the history books are simplified and to
the
point of being incomplete. He spoke greatly about how the Nationalists
were
able to locate hidden and/or vulnerable Jews because some of the
enterprising Jew were selling out other Jews and those were the ones who
became wealthy doing that and many came to the U.S. quite comfortably.
Once
the Nationalists became powerful enough the ones that remained found that
they had to use their ill gotten gains to save themselves. His point was
that the history books pay little or no attention to that important
detail.
My point about his point is that sometimes there is value in putting down
the books, web sites and articles and listening to the oral traditions of
the tribe.

I had no idea that in Lithuania, there were any Jewish aristocrats. I
remember reading that there was a Jewish community in Lithuania that was
wiped out, that there's a cemetery there, holding bodies of all the Jews.
From all that I've read, it seemed like most of the wealthy Jewish
families
were in Germany. I thought that, that was why in America, the German
Jews
tended to look down on the Jews who came here from other eastern european
countries.

Sounds like your information is about a donor event that
Hillary Clinton
attended. But since there's no hard evidence, the story
sounds less
plausible than the one about Hillary's government related
emails spread over

the Hamptons.

the Men's Clubs, Country Clubs, and Synagogues of America's
elitist areas?
